Packerland Conference Baseball Standings
By
Nick Freimuth
DoorCountyDailyNews.com
May 9,
2008
High school boy’s baseball in the Packerland Conference is
absolutely unpredictable. Especially this year! After two major
upsets last night, four teams could possibly tie for the
Packerland Conference championship.
Southern Door pulled off a 4-2 victory over first place Oconto.
Two runs in the seventh inning were enough for the Eagles to
escape Blue Devils Field with a crucial conference win. John
Heimbecker had all four RBI's for Southern Door, including a two
RBI double in the seventh. Michael Blizel earned the win and
struck out five batters. The game put Oconto at (9-2) on the
season and a likely tie for first place.
However, Algoma did not hold up their end of the deal, and were
upset by Gibraltar 7-5. Oconto is still alone atop the
conference with three teams a game back. (Sturgeon Bay, Algoma
and Southern Door)
Gibraltar used their home field advantage to work a little magic
in Fish Creek. Their 7-5 victory shook the entire conference
race. A five-run third inning was key when Sam Forkert hit a
two-run single and Eric Williams, Dusty Johnson and Marshall
Larsen all had RBI at bats. Algoma could not complete the come
from behind victory and fell to the arm of winning pitcher Alex
Larsen.
Sturgeon Bay benefited from all of the other action in the
Packerland. They defeated Kewaunee 3-0. Nate Felhofer, Pat
Larsen, Troy Jorgenson and Jake Miller led the Clipper hit
parade with two hits apiece. Sean Zak earned the win by striking
out eight Kewaunee batters in the shutout.
Sevastopol put the ten-run rule into play against NEW Lutheran
11-1 in the fifth inning. Riley Spetz and Eric Bley had two hits
a piece for the Pioneers. Kyle Volkman was the winning pitcher.
He struck out six and pitched a six-hitter. |

Southern Door blanked Oconto 10-0 in Packerland
Conference softball yesterday. The win all but locked up a
conference championship for the Eagles. It is not a done deal
yet, but the win puts two games between Southern Door and Oconto
in the standings atop the conference. Karleee Vandertie, Kate
Klaubauf, Liz Neuman and Molly Swanson each had two hits in the
Eagles win. Pitcher Courtney Wautier struck out eight and
allowed three hits.
Sevastopol softball topped NEW Lutheran in a football sounding
score 24-3. The 21-run route began in the first inning when the
Pioneers took out their frustrations on Blazer pitching and
plated 11 quick runs. Mariah Giesseman was the winning pitcher
in the five-inning contest. The Pioneers accumulated 28 hits in
the game. Jena Paul had five hits for Sevastopol.

Kyle Trelka
Signs Letter Of Intent For UW-Milwaukee
By
Nick Freimuth DoorCountyDailyNews.com
April

2008
Sturgeon Bay
senior Kyle Trelka signed his national letter of intent for
UW-Milwaukee yesterday in the high school library. He will swim
on scholarship in the fly, free and backstrokes as well as the
individual medley event. Trelka was a state champion swimmer
after solid performances in Madison earlier this year. He turned
down scholarship offers from Missouri and Kentucky.
The letter signing took place in front of friends, family and
faculty. Kyle's mom, Sandy Trelka, said it was a huge relief to
have this decision made.
(Audio Here)
Choosing between Milwaukee and Kentucky was a decision Kyle
mulled over for months. He visited UK last week and Sandy said
after he returned from that trip, the decision
became clear.
(Audio Here)
Sturgeon Bay swim coach Cap Wolf, parents Sandy and Dan and
younger sister Taylor were seated at the head table for the
signing yesterday. Taylor is also an accomplished swimmer and
may follow in her brother's footsteps in terms of a
swimming career.
After the national letter of intent was signed, there was one
burning question left to ask
Sandy Trelka.
(Audio Here)
It sounds like Kyle will still be working in the family business
this summer. Therefore, if you
would like
to congratulate the senior, he will probably be serving up soft
serve at his parents ice cream stand. |

Packers
Offense Addressed With First Two Picks - Complete Draft Recap
By
Nick Freimuth DoorCountyDailyNews.com
April
28,
2008
The Green Bay
Packers draft wrapped up yesterday with nine picks. Three first
round draft choices addressed the team’s needs at the skilled
position set. A surprising first pick was Kansas State wide
receiver Jordy Nelson. Green Bay did not have a first round pick
as General Manager Ted Thompson elected to trade down and picked
up a fourth round pick in addition to an early second round pick
(36th) from the New York Jets.
A college walk-on, Nelson finished his career a consensus All-American.
He shattered school and Big 12 Conference season-records in 2007
by catching 122 passes for 1,606 yards and 11 touchdowns. Nelson
scored twice on five punt returns for 264 yards and finished
with a school record 140 points.
The pick will provide competition in an already deep and talented
receiver pool. Jordy Nelson should also compete with Tramon
Williams, Will Blackmon and Koren Robinson for the punt return
job.
The Packers were back on the clock with the 56th selection and
pulled the trigger on one of the most talented quarterbacks in
the draft. Louisville senior Brian Brohm fell into the Packers
lap as Aaron Rodgers did in 2005. This time G.M. Ted Thompson
decided to provide a backup to the unproven Rodgers with a young
player that could be ready to play this season.
Brohm is another player with a list of attributes a mile long. He
finished his career as the Big East Conference's all-time record
holder in passing yardage, becoming the first player in league
history to throw for over 10,000 yards.
The pick would seemingly put even more pressure on the "quarterback of
the future" Aaron Rodgers. If Rodgers struggles, there is a
player waiting in the wings that the franchise has invested a
high draft pick and a good deal of money in that could create
quarterback controversy.
Day one of the 2008 NFL Draft concluded for the Packers with a
need pick in cornerback Patrick Lee at number 60 overall.
Charles Woodson and Al Harris are nearing their mid-thirties,
which is an indicator their careers could end within the next
two to three seasons. Lee played safety and kickoff returner for
the University of Auburn as well.
Lee is a player that could replace one of the Packers' bookend
cornerbacks and step into the bump and run style where Green Bay
excels. Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy said, "We like his
size, his physicalness. You see the tackling and his
aggressiveness in bump-and-run. He really fits the temperament,
the attitude and our style of play."Day 2:
Day 2 of the NFL draft got off to a quick start with the
Packers making a selection at number 91. Another need pick was
made when redshirt sophomore tight end out of Texas, Jermichael
Finley was taken. This was another surprising pick, because many
national draft analysts had a handful of other tight end
prospects scoring higher than the young Finley.
The scouting report on the Texas youngster is that he has
tremendous upside but lacks the discipline to this point to
excel at blocking. The pick addressed a depleted tight end corps
after Bubba Franks signed with the New York Jets in free agency.
Finley will join Donald Lee and unproven commodities in Tory
Humphrey and Ryan Krause.
Green Bay executed another draft day trade with the New York
Jets early in day two. Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy traded up
to the 102 selection to draft Wake Forrest defensive end Jeremy
Thompson. The Packers gave up picks number 113 and 162 to move
up and pick the brother of current Green Bay offensive lineman
Orrin Thompson. The two will have some interesting training camp
battles as Orrin plays tackle and will likely line up against
his younger brother Jeremy who plays on the outside corner on
the D-line.
The knock on Jeremy Thompson is the health of his knee. He
underwent a major ACL surgery in college where doctors took a
piece of his hamstring and transplanted that into his knee. The
defensive end has impressive balance and lateral agility with a
great ten-yard burst. He could grow into a legit understudy
behind Aaron Kampman, Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila and Cullen Jenkins.
The brain trust in the Packers draft "war room" conducted
another trade in the fourth round. They traded away pick number
128 for a fifth and seventh round selection from the St. Lois
Rams. Then they picked offensive lineman out of the University
of Central Florida Josh Sitton. He is projected to play guard or
center in the NFL. Sitton believes he has an opportunity to
compete for a starting spot at one of the guard positions.
Ted Thompson was wheeling and dealing again. This time, a trade
was executed with the Minnesota Vikings. The Packers traded pick
137 to Minnesota for a fifth and seventh rounder.
The lone pick for the Pack in round five came at number 150. The
selection addressed the need at offensive tackle. The Louisville
connection between quarterback Brian Brohm and O-lineman Breno
Giacomini will be refueled this season on the Packers practice
field. Giacomini and Jason Spitz played on the offensive line
together in college and have talked regularly with his former
teammate over the past two seasons. Giacomini could be in line
to work as an understudy behind tackles Mark Tauscher and Chad
Clifton. Both players are now in their thirties and could hang
up the cleats at any time.
The draft ended for Green Bay in the seventh round with two
selections. They traded away their third seventh round pick to
the New Orleans Saints for a 2009 sixth round selection. LSU
quarterback Matt Flynn and San Diego State wide receiver Brett
Swain were the final two draft picks selected by G.M. Ted
Thompson and Coach Mike McCarthy. |

Packers to a 13-3 regular-season mark and surpass nearly every
significant career passing milestone, including yards,
touchdowns and wins.
In announcing the award, the PFWA noted, “Favre not only gave
detailed, honest answers but increased his availability to
national and out-of-town reporters. Leading into games, Favre
did more conference calls than in previous seasons with media
covering the opposition even knowing he would inevitably be
asked the same questions about his possible retirement. Favre
answered the inquiries with class and dignity before making his
retirement official in March.”
Previous honoree’s of the PFWA Good Guy Award include Jerome
Bettis (2005), Tiki Barber (2006) and LaDainian Tomlinson
(2007).

Packers
Place Favre On Retired List
By
Nick Freimuth DoorCountyDailyNews.com
April

2008
The Green Bay
Packers have placed quarterback Brett Favre on the NFL’s
reserve/retired list, along with waiving three players, to
reduce the number of players counting against the Green Bay
active roster to 68 players on active status. The transactions
were announced Friday by Executive Vice President, General
Manager and Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson.
Released were offensive linemen Tony Palmer, Chris Patrick and
Cliff Washburn.
The NFL’s all-time leader in every major career passing
category, Favre announced his retirement from football at a
March 6 press conference. However, since that date he had
continued to count against the league’s 80-player roster limit.
“Today’s moves are procedural in nature,” said Thompson. “Both
(head coach) Mike McCarthy and I have spoken to Brett over the
past several days. Brett knew this change in his roster status
was coming, and he fully understood our need to make the move in
advance of the NFL Draft.
“The NFL does not require a letter for a player to be placed in
a reserve/retired status. Brett has announced his retirement
publicly and this is simply a personnel transaction made to
develop a roster opportunity for the Packers.”
Palmer played in a pair of 2007 games before sustaining a
season-ending neck injury in the Packers’ victory at the N.Y.
Giants. Both Patrick and Washburn had stints on the Green Bay
practice squad in ’07 before signing for the 2008 season this
past January. |

Tie For First
Place In Packerland Baseball

Sevastopol and
Gibraltar locked up in a pitchers dual last night in high school
baseball played in Institute. The Pioneers escaped with a 1-0
win because of an Owen Hubner RBI single and a trot to the plate
in the 10th after a bases loaded walk given up by the Vikings.
The victory was the first of the season for Sevastopol.
Kewaunee and Oconto also locked up in a one-run game. The 5-4
final was not a fair indication of the flawed ball played in
this game. Numerous errors by Oconto set up the upset for
Kewaunee. It was the first loss in the conference for Oconto and
is now tied with Algoma in the race for a conference
championship.
Algoma earned a 17-2 win over NEW Lutheran. A three-run homer by
Craig Kirchman proved to be all that the Wolves would need on
offense. Craig Kirchman earned the win on the mound.
Southern Door prevented Sturgeon Bay from sitting atop the
conference with a 4-3 win at Memorial Field. Two squeeze bunts
by the Eagles' Cory Delarwelle drove in crucial runs for the
road team. Michael Blizel earned the win and Troy Jorgenson was
charged with the loss. Blizel struck out 12 batters in the game.
Simon Rabas led the Clippers at the plate with three hits. |

It was
double-header day in the Packerland Conference for high school
softball yesterday. Algoma scored 43 runs in two shortened games
with NEW Lutheran. The ten-run rule stopped the Wolves offensive
attack in the fifth inning of both games. Lindsay Swoboda
pitched a 10-0 shutout in the opener. Shana Vandertie hit a home
run in both games for the Wolves. NEW Lutheran fell in game two
33-1. Stacey Barnum was the winning pitcher.
Oconto swept Kewaunee in a double dip 1-0 and 6-2. Oconto
pitcher Natalie Ruechel pitched and won both games and drove in
the lone run in the first game.
Sevastopol put an early end to both of their games with
Gibraltar. They stomped the Vikings 10-0 and 14-2. Carissa
Neinas
earned both of the wins on the mound for the Pioneers. Lacey
Weber finished with five hits and Neinas accounted for five.
Southern Door and Sturgeon Bay played a tight game in Brussels.
The Eagles prevailed 8-3 behind another stellar pitching
performance by Courtney Wautier. She struck out six
Clipper batters. Kristi Villers provided a little instant
offense with a solo homerun in the first inning.

Sturgeon
Bay Sports Performing Well On All Fronts
By Karen Klement DoorCountyDailyNews.com

2008
Sturgeon Bay Athletic Director Gary Rabach has had a
busy spring in terms of rescheduling athletic events from
baseball to track and field. Gary joined me last night on "The
Sports Page" on 96.7 FM WBDK. The sports talk show is broadcast
from the ladder House in Sturgeon Bay every Wednesday night at
5:30 p.m.
More warm and dry weather is a welcome sight for the second year
A.D. Rabach said the hardest part of making up all of the games
was finding umpires and officials. In addition, rescheduling
non-conference games has been quite difficult. Bay Conference
teams have so many conference games that it is nearly impossible
to play the less important games against other schools like
Green Bay West or Seymour.
Rabach is thrilled with the spring sports teams. Clipper golfers
are off to a (2-0) start, track and field teams have finished as
high as second place in early season events and the baseball
team is tied for second place with just one loss. |

Sturgeon
Bay Softball Wins First Game, Tournament
By Nick Freimuth DoorCountyDailyNews.com
April
21,
2008
The Sturgeon Bay Varsity softball team had struggled in their
first five games of the young season. Without a win, the
Clippers took a positive attitude into a weekend tournament in
Two Rivers. Senior pitcher Amy Ziegelbauer pitched a two-hit
shutout in the semifinals, and then allowed the host school only
one hit in the championship game and won the tournament. From an
(0-5) record to champs of a non-conference tournament, this may
have been just the spark that will ignite the Clipper team.
An 8-1 victory in the championship game highlighted a coming out
party for the Sturgeon Bay offense. Jenny LaLuzerne was 3x4 and
Heather Schmitt was 2x3 at the plate. The semifinal against
Mishicot ended 5-0. Heather Schmitt was hot in that contest as
well. She doubled in the first run in a five-hit, three-run
first inning.
Kewaunee also played a great weekend of softball. They swept
Green Bay Southwest 6-4 and 6-1 in a double header at Kewaunee
Field. Heather Bloniarz threw a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts in
the opener. Kari Wotachek earned the win on the mound for
Kewaunee in game two.
Sevastopol continued to struggle with an 11-5 loss to Shoreland
Lutheran on Saturday. The game was played in Institute and the
long bus ride for the opponent apparently fired the team up.
Shoreland Lutheran scored ten runs in the first inning. Mariah
Giesseman was the losing pitcher. |

Algoma Wins
Battle Of Undefeated Teams With Sturgeon Bay
By Nick Freimuth DoorCountyDailyNews.com

Algoma played their best game of the season against Sturgeon Bay
last night and earned a 7-1 victory in Packerland Conference
baseball yesterday. A three-run homerun off the bat of Craig
Harmann was really all the offense the Wolves needed. They
handed the Clippers their first loss of the season. Algoma
pitcher Jake Lebotte struck out 13 batters en route to a perfect
(4-0, 3-0) record.
In Brussels, Kewaunee slammed the door on Southern Door 11-6.
Winning pitcher Tim Struck struck out 11 Eagles batters. Alex
Delebreau, Jerry Charles and Doug Delebreau each banged out two
hits for Kewaunee.
Oconto earned a 4-2 win over Sevastopol. Despite a 3x4 day at
the plate for Matt Petersilka, The Pioneers could not overcome
the strong pitching performance by Jacob Wenzel and Mike
Vincent.
Gibraltar scored ten runs in the fourth inning on their way to
an 18-4 win over NEW Lutheran last night in Fish Creek. Sam
Ausloos was the winning pitcher.
In Bay Conference action, Denmark squeaked by Luxemburg-Casco
3-1. Sean Glinski pitched a nice ball game for the Spartans who
could not overcome two errors in the field. Justin Zellner led
L-C at the plate with a 2x3 day. |

Favre's
Jersey To Be Retired September 8 Vs. Vikings
By Nick Freimuth DoorCountyDailyNews.com

17,
2008
The Green Bay Packers will retire Brett Favre’s No. 4 at the
team’s season opener, Monday night, Sept. 8, vs. the Minnesota
Vikings, Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy announced Thursday.
"The season-opening game is always an exciting event, and now
we’re very pleased to add the retirement of Brett’s No. 4 to
that evening," said Murphy. "It will make for an electric
atmosphere at Lambeau Field, as well as a great opportunity for
our fans around the country to share in it while watching the
game on the national broadcast.
"Ted Thompson, Mike McCarthy and I looked at the entire schedule
and felt the first game would be an ideal time to have the
event. I spoke with Brett, as did Ted and Mike, about which game
to choose. Ultimately, through our communications, we decided
the first game would work great."
Planning for the ceremony is underway with further details to be
announced at a later date.
Favre’s No. 4 will become the sixth number retired by the
storied franchise. Other retired Packers numbers include the No.
14 of wide receiver Don Hutson (1951), No. 3 of fullback Tony
Canadeo (1952), No. 15 of quarterback Bart Starr (1973), No. 66
of linebacker Ray Nitschke (1983) and No. 92 of defensive end
Reggie White (2005). All five bearers of the previously retired
numbers are enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. |

Sevastopol Golf Team Led By Fuller Is Ready For State Run
By Nick Freimuth DoorCountyDailyNews.com
April

2008
Sevastopol senior and two-time Packerland Conference golfer of
the year Cam Fuller was my guest last night on "The Sports
Page." Fuller recently signed a letter of intent to golf at the
college level at UWGB. Cam is the third Fuller son that will be
competing at the college level in athletics. Jason the oldest
played basketball and Corey plays baseball at St. Norbert's.
Cam and the Pioneer golf team had a great start to the season on
Tuesday. They won a non-conference meet by 12 strokes. Fuller
started his round with two bogeys in the first three holes but
rebounded extremely well. He finished with a one over par 37
score and took first place.
Sevastopol golf coach Jeff Campbell said he stays out of Cam's
way. Campbell is more of a psychologist for Fuller than an
instructor at this point in his career. Campbell said that as
long as Cam keeps a cool head on the course, he is the best high
school golfer in the area.
Sevastopol has three matches scheduled in the next week. The
team's goal is to first win conference and then earn a trip to
state. Last year they fell a few strokes short of that goal at
sectionals. This year appears to be the best chance the Pioneers
have ever had to make an appearance at state. |

Packers
Schedule Set
By Nick Freimuth DoorCountyDailyNews.com
April

2008
The Aaron Rodgers era will bein with a taste of the national
spotlight. The Green Bay Packers’ 88th regular-season schedule,
highlighted by three Monday Night Football contests and one
Sunday night game was released yesterday by the NFL.
You can listen to all Green Bay Packer games on 104.1 FM WRLU and 105.1 FM
WSBW. The only place the Packers play in Door and Kewaunee
Counties is on the radio stations of DoorCountyDailyNews.com.
The Packers will kick off the 2008 season with a nationally televised
Monday Night Football contest against the rival Minnesota
Vikings at Lambeau Field.
The September 8 game will be the fourth season opener in club
history under the bright lights of Monday night. Green Bay is
3-0 in its previous Monday night openers. It will be the 16th
consecutive season with an appearance on MNF for the Packers,
the NFC’s longest active streak.
Though Head Coach Mike McCarthy has twice coached on MNF with
the Packers, it will mark the first Monday night game at Lambeau
Field for
McCarthy. The Packers’ last Monday night home game came in 2005,
also against the Vikings.
The Dallas Cowboys travel to Lambeau Field for a Sunday night
showdown in Week 3. It is the third consecutive year the Packers
will play in
a Sunday night game on NBC, and the second consecutive season
they line up against the Cowboys in primetime.
Green Bay plays its third primetime game in Week 12 when it
travels to New Orleans for the first time since 2002. The MNF
game marks
McCarthy’s return to New Orleans for the first time since
serving as the Saints’ offensive coordinator for five seasons
(2000-04).
The fourth primetime game, and third Monday night contest, comes
in Week 16 and showcases the NFL’s most historic rivalry:
Packers vs.
Bears. No two professional football teams have met on the field
more than Green Bay and Chicago, and this December contest marks
the 177th installment in the series.

Amy Ziegelbauer. The Clipper offense stalled again and could not
put up the needed run support. The final score was 7-2. The

the C & C Supper Club in Fish Creek.
Jackson revisited the devastating fire that swept through the

when the course re-opens the end of this month.
The Orchards opened in 2000 and is an 18 hole championship course located

the back tees, wind through woods, orchards and scenic meadows

getting on area courses during the season. The Sports Page can

calling on everyone to join the club. He says soccer is getting
to be quite
popular at L-C.

With school boards juggling budgets and funding a constant issue
for school districts, Vandenhouten and some other area parents
thought creating an L-C Soccer Club would be a huge help. The
club is made up of past, present and future L-C soccer players
parents.

There are a number of activities planned for the L-C Soccer Club
this year. Vandenhouten says the club will continue to run the
concession stand at home games, host a 3 on 3 soccer tournament
and organize an alumni game to bring more attention to the
Luxemburg-Casco soccer teams. |

By Nick Freimuth DoorCountyDailyNews.com
April

2008
All scheduled spring sports in the Packerland Conference last
night and today have been canceled. Golf, soccer, tennis,
baseball, softball and track events have been indefinitely

the blanket of snow that fell over Door and Kewaunee Counties
this morning.
Sturgeon Bay Athletic Director Gary Rabach was the only A.D. in
the conference to provide the radio stations with a list of
postponed sporting events. Sturgeon Bay varsity and junior
varsity soccer Vs. Manitowoc Lincoln and varsity and J.V.
softball Vs. Green Bay East have been canceled, according to
Rabach.
The "Spring Sports Preview" will be aired today on 96.7 FM WBDK.
The show features coaches from every school in Door and Kewaunee
Counties. All spring sports will be represented. The "Spring
Sports Preview" will run from 12:20 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Sevastopol Softball Ready To Surge
By Nick Freimuth DoorCountyDailyNews.com
April
10,
2008
Sevastopol softball coaches Tim
Newton and Brooke Tanck joined me last night on the Sports
Page on 96.7 FM WBDK. The defending state champions have
started the season with an (0-2) record with losses to New
London and Southern Door. The Pioneers will look to get back
on track against Algoma tonight. The squad will play
Manitowoc tomorrow and Menasha St. Mary's on Saturday.
Coach Newton said this is an important stretch of games
for the starting sophomores to gain invaluable experience.
The team consists of just three seniors. All three have been
named captains and Newton said he will look to them to lead
this year's team.
The Sports Page is held every Wednesday at the Ladder
House in downtown Sturgeon Bay from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM. The
first half and hour of the broadcast features collegiate and
professional sports talk with Joe Witt and me. The final
hour is devoted to local and regional sports. Next week
Sevastopol senior Cam Fuller will be our local sports guest. |

Brewers
Will Win More Games, But Not Make The Playoffs
By Paul Schmitt DoorCountyDailyNews.com
April
9,
2008I know optimism is
reigning supreme for the 2008 Milwaukee Brewers, but I have an
uneasy feeling on how this year will play out. The Brewers blew an
eight and one-half game lead over the Cubs last year.
They managed to finish 83-79 and stay in the race until the final
weekend. That’s called a lost opportunity. Why? Because I believe,
the Brewers can win 90 games this year and STILL not make the
playoffs. Here is how I see it playing out.
Nick Freimuth says the National League Central is “still a weak
division”. I see it differently. The Chicago Cubs and the St.
Louis Cardinals have the experienced heavy hitters and starting
pitching to match, if not better the back end of the Brewers young
rotation.
Mr. Freimuth also says that the Brewers don’t have to worry about a
closer, since “they will be up by eight runs in the eighth inning”.
This is very dangerous thinking since the Brewers lost a record
amount of games last year, when leading by four or more runs. Last
year the Brewers couldn’t get to the ninth inning to close out many
games with a dependable Francisco Cordero.
This year they might get to the ninth, but unfortunately, Eric
Gagne is no Cordero. Any expectations for a World Series in
Milwaukee should be tempered til’ next year. You have to be able to
crawl before you can run and 90 wins, even without making the
playoffs, is a good brisk walk.
Look for the Mets and Phillies to both win over 90 games. As far
as the Central division, it will be a great race with the Cubs
prevailing late again. I hope I’m wrong, but at least the future
Mrs. Freimuth will be happy anyway, right Nick? |

Cam Fuller
Signs Letter Of Intent With UWGB For Golf
By Nick Freimuth DoorCountyDailyNews.com
April

2008
Sevastopol Senior Cam Fuller signed his
collegiate letter of intent today in front of his peers, family and
the media. Fuller earned a scholarship to the University of Green
Bay. Last year as a junior, Fuller finished 11th in the state.
Sevastopol golf coach Jeff Campbell said there is no reason why he
should not be number one in the state this year.
(Audio

Fuller said UWGB has a great golf team and knows the coaches will
help him become a better golfer. The golf season will be much less
stressful now that he has signed with UWGB. Fuller said he will be
able to focus more on his game and less about what c | | |
