Sturgeon Bay Soccer Advances To Sectional Final Tomorrow Night In Waupon On WRLU

The Sturgeon Bay varsity boys soccer team has advanced farther than the 2012 squad did after an impressive 3-1 win over N.E.W. Lutheran in Green Bay yesterday afternoon. The Clippers dominated the Blazers in a game broadcast live on 104.1 FM WRLU.

Jesse Mejia was in on both of the first half goals. The first was an assist to Robert Desotelle. The second goal was assisted by Noah Giese and headed into the back of the net by Mejia. The first two goals came within the first 30 minutes of the first half. The back breaker was scored by Giese 32:08 into the second half and gave Sturgeon Bay a 3-0 lead.

N.E.W. Lutheran swapped out goalies and let senior standout Khristian Zimmerman go wild in the second half. His athletic ability led to a header goal with 7:42 left in the game.

The win puts Sturgeon Bay into a sectional final tomorrow night at 7:00 Pm in Waupun. The Clippers will play Central Wisconsin Christian who topped St. Lawrence Seminary 3-0 last night. The sectional final soccer match will be broadcast on 104.1 FM WRLU. Pre-game coverage will begin at 6:30 PM with Coach Todd Maas previewing the state tournament qualifier.
