A 4-0 Brewers victory in Washington last night ended Milwaukee’s six game skid. Starting pitchers Wily Peralta and Stephen Strasburg each pitched shutout efforts. Peralta settled for a no-decision after no runs on three hits and two walks in 5 1/3 innings with five strikeouts. He was forced to leave the game with hamstring tightness in the sixth.
Juan Francisco delivered the go-ahead double, and Martin Maldonado and Jeff Bianchi added an RBI apiece for insurance in the eighth inning.
John Axford, Jim Henderson, Michael Gonzalez and Francisco Rodriguez combining to work the final three-plus innings and kept the shutout intact.
Game three of four with the Nationals will be played tonight at 5:05 CST.
