Kyle Lohse held Houston to a single run over six quality innings and John Axford, Jim Henderson and Francisco Rodriguez held the lead in the closing frames. Axford picked up the win in his 17th consecutive scoreless appearance, and Rodriguez logged career save No. 299.
Aramis Ramirez added an insurance home run in the ninth inning that ended a long ball drought that spanned a full month.
The rubber match between the Brewers and Astros will be played tonight at 7:10.
