Farewell Ceremony For John "Hoot" Utnehmer

The opportunity to say farewell to John "Hoot" Utnehmer will be held this evening at the Sunset Park Baseball Diamond in Sturgeon Bay at 5:45pm.  Sturgeon Bay City officials will be on hand to recognize Hoot for all of his contributions to youth sports at 5:45 this evening just before the little league baseball game.  During the farewell a committee will dedicate Hoot (Football) Field and retire a youth football jersey in Hoot's honor.

Hoot is retiring from not only youth sports in our community, but also is moving this week to a veteran’s facility in the Waupaca area that is closer his relatives. The new "Hoot" Field sign is now posted near Memorial Field.

The community is being asked to help send off this great man at Sunset Park this evening at 5:45. It will be an opportunity to say farewell to Hoot and recognize the 40 plus years he has dedicated to youth sports in our community.
