High School Baseball Recap - Gibraltar Upsets Sturgeon Bay

Gibraltar sent the Packerland Baseball Conference into a tizzy yesterday by beating the previously undefeated Sturgeon Bay Clippers. The two teams are now tied for first place in the conference with Oconto lurking in the shadows.

Gibraltar won the pitchers duel 2-1 thanks to a sparkling performance by Amedee Savard on the hill. Savard allowed only five hits over seven innings and struck out five. A.J. Demarinis hit the game winning RBI single in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Kewaunee blasted Algoma 10-0 in five innings. A six-run third inning allowed Alex Mehn to earn the win for the Storm. Mehn allowed one hit and struck out eight in just five innings.

Southern Door swept Sevastopol 15-3 and 11-10 Tuesday.  Quinn McInerney was the winning pitcher in game one. In the second game, Mike Larson was a perfect 3x3 at the plate as the Eagles soared past the Pioneers.

Luxemburg-Casco needed only five innings to shut down Oconto Falls 10-0. Caleb Willems was the pitcher of record and aided his own cause with four RBI’s in the victory.
