Frigid temperatures, rain, sleet and snow have hindered week one spring turkey hunters this week. Many have decided to try their luck this weekend and have not hit the woods and fields in Door and Kewaunee Counties.
Some turkey hunters have braved the elements however. Cheryl Nault of Sturgeon Bay is one hunter that was determined to bag a giant tom. Nault had not shot a turkey in seven years, but not for a lack of effort. Wednesday was opening morning for the hunt and by mid afternoon, Cheryl had a giant tom in front of the tent.
After Cheryl's first shot the tom started walking away.
