Sophia Pollman of the Door County YMCA Strivers Gymnastic Team returned home from the YMCA Gymnastics National Championships with a Gold medal on the vault. Pollman competes in the X-cel bronze level. She captured the title scoring a 9.35 on the vault. Pollman also captured 4th on the balance beam and 4th in the All Around.
Teammate Abby Thiede who competes in level seven came home with a silver medal on the balance beam. Thiede also captured 4th in the All Around and 4th on bars.
Striver X-cel Silver gymnast, Demi Ploor placed 4th on vault and 7th on floor. Level 3 gymnast, Alexa Nelson placed 5th on floor. Xcel Silver Kayla Counard placed 7th on the bars. Ellie Helm who is also a Xcel Silver placed 8th on vault. Level 3 gymnast, Reetika Jandu placed 9th on bars.
A total of 16 girls from the Strivers Gymnastic Team competed at the National competition. All 16 girls placed in the top 20! Coach Nikki Pollman stated "All of the Striver girls peaked at the right time! It's a great day to be a YMCA gymnast!"
