As sure as the leaves will fall, Luxemburg-Casco and Green Bay Notre Dame will meet in WIAA Sectional Volleyball in October. The records for both teams may not show it (23-20 for the Spartans, 19-15 for the Tritons), but the pair have proven to be among the best Division 2 teams in the area as they vie for a chance to go to state at the Resch Center in Green Bay next weekend.
The Tritons had the rockier road to get to the sectional semifinals compared to the Spartans. Luxemburg-Casco swept Freedom in straight sets last Thursday before sending Oconto Falls to the same fate on Saturday. Notre Dame topped Sturgeon Bay in the regional semis in four games before going the distance in a comeback, five-game victory in the final. The Spartans did lose to the Tritons in their only match-up this year, a two-game sweep (19-25, 24-26) in Notre Dame’s own tournament Labor Day weekend.
Tyler Thrune and Tim Kowols will have the action from Seymour beginning at 6:30 p.m. followed by the opening serve at 7 p.m. You can follow the game on 96.7 WBDK and streamed worldwide at DoorCountyDailyNews.com.
