By Nick Freimuth Sevastopol was swept in three games against Oconto Tuesday. The top team in the Packerland Conference is back to playing some of their best ball of the season. The Blue Devils beat the Pioneers (10-25, 4-25, 17-25). Steph Bemmann tallied five kills and ten digs to lead Sevastopol.
Sturgeon Bay beat Kewaunee in four games (25-18, 25-22, 10-25, 25-21). Lauren Alger facilitated the offense with 25 set assists. Katie Frank added 10 set assists. Kasia Klotz notched seven kills, two aces and four blocks. Koko Hartzell managed 11 kills and an impressive nine aces. Hailey DeGrave led the team with 15 kills and four aces. Clippers Coach Stacy Judas said, “This was a nice Homecoming win for our girls. Koko had another great night behind the service line then made her presence felt at the net along with Kasia and Hailey. The third set we lost our serve receive a little, but came back strong in the fourth.”
Luxemburg-Casco swept Waupaca (25-16, 25-16, 25-16). Bekah Day wracked up 30 assists and three blocks. Cassie Schiltz managed 12 kills, eight digs and five aces. Holly Baierl chipped in nine kills and six blocks. The win moved L-C to (16-16) overall and (5-2) in conference. Spartans Head Coach Jeff Frey said, “Happy to go on the road and get a win, we are focused on stacking success, playing with energy and playing our best volleyball here down the stretch.”
