Gibraltar’s defense struggled to get off the field and ultimately paid the price in a 70-34 loss to the Oakfield Oaks Friday night on 105.1 The Viking. The Vikings and the Oaks traded scores in their opening drives, led by a one-yard touchdown rush by Trevor Reinhardt. Alex Laughlin would add a couple scores of his own in the first half. The Oaks’ Javaun Mielke, Mike Kottke, and Jacob Cedar had first-half rushing touchdowns, but the momentum stopping play was a kickoff return for a score by Andre Artiles right after a long one by Laughlin. Cedar would open the second half with a touchdown before the Vikings scored on two straight drives capped off by visits to the endzone by Andras Szakala and Laughlin. The Oaks would cap off their Homecoming festivities with three straight touchdown drives. The Vikings return home next week to Fish Creek to host their own homecoming game against Wausaukee. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. with pregame beginning at 6:30 p.m. on 105.1 The Viking.
