The Milwaukee Brewers beat the Washington Nationals 9-4 on Sunday afternoon. Brandon Woodruff came in relief during the game and allowed no runs across four innings pitched. Corey Knebel came in to shut the door on the Nationals in the ninth.
Keon Broxton hit a three run home run in the fifth to give three-run an edge in the game. Christian Yelich followed that up with a grand slam in the same inning to give Milwaukee a comfortable lead. They wouldn’t look back in this one as they held on to the lead.
The Brewers will now head back to Milwaukee for a series against the division-leading Cubs. Zach Davies will draw his turn in the rotation off the DL. First pitch will be thrown out at 1:10 from Miller Park.
