By Nick Freimuth The Sturgeon Bay Clippers Football team lost 43-8 Friday night in Peshtigo on 104.1 FM WRLU and 103.3 FM The Clipper. Trailing 28-0 in the first quarter, Sturgeon Bay lost multiple players again to injury. The most scary play came on the first drive when starting quarterback Anthony Jennerjohn suffered a concussion sustained in a vicious head to head blow from the Bulldogs linebacker. It was a tackle where the defender went head-to-head with his helmet down and was flagged for 15 yard immediately.
The Clippers managed their lone score during a second half shortened by continuous clock. Jack Schmelzer threw a seven-yard touchdown pass to freshman Braiden Haines. Schmelzer ran in the two point conversion. The Clippers tallied 128 passing yards and 26 rushing yards in the loss. Peshtigo ran for 229 yards and passed for 102 yards.
Sturgeon Bay has a bye next week and will resume play in two weeks when they travel to Coleman again on 104.1 FM WRLU and 103.3 FM The Clipper.
