The Sevastopol Pioneers look to make up last season’s lone blemish when it travels Thursday to Wausau to face Newman Catholic. The Fighting Cardinals left Institute last year with a 21-18 victory, forced to hold off the Pioneers after being shut out in the second half. Nathan Stenzel has led the balanced attack for the Pioneers, throwing for a conference-leading 253 yards and rushing for another 223. The Pioneers are coming off consecutive wins against Wisconsin Heights and a 36-0 shutout of Wausaukee. The Fighting Cardinals still have not lost in over a year, posting their wins against Wausaukee and McDonnell Central by nearly four-touchdown margins.
The two teams meet at Stiehm Stadium tonight in Wausau at 5 p.m.
