Running Back Colton Woracheck scored from one yard out on fourth down with only :09 seconds remaining to propel the Luxemburg-Casco Spartans to a 14-7 road victory over the Denmark Vikings in the North Eastern Conference opening game Friday night. The Spartans drove over 90 yards and used over seven minutes of the clock for the decisive score that broke a 7-7 tie. The only other scoring was a 5 yard run by Denmark’s Brandon Wavranek with 5:49 left in the second quarter and a 1 yard run by Spartan running back Nathan Coisman with 2:25 left in the first half The defensive game came down to both teams turning the ball over with fumbles in the middle of the fourth quarter. That’s when the Spartans put together the drive of the game with Woracheck’s game-winning heroics after Coisman left the game late with cramps, according to Coach Dillon Maney of the Spartans. Luxemburg-Casco (1-0, 1-0 overall) will now face Fox Valley Lutheran in the Spartans’ home opener next Friday night in Luxemburg. The game will be at 7 pm with the pregame show starting at 6:30 pm on WBDK 96.7FM.
