By Nick Freimuth The San Diego Padres had just 44 wins entering a three-game series with the Milwaukee Brewers this week. They stole two from the National League Wild Card front-runners and won the series with an 8-4 win at Miller Park Thursday.
Lorenzo Cain set the table well from the lead-off spot tallying two hits in the series finale. Hernan Perez and Manny Pina also added two hits in the loss. Jonathan Schoop showed some signs as to why ‘The Crew’ traded for him Thursday with two RBI. The relievers struggled again, however. Corey Knebel who was automatic two years ago gave up four earned runs in the closer role to blow the game.
Milwaukee travels to Atlanta to open a three-game series with the Braves starting tonight at 6:35 PM.
