The Milwaukee Brewers ended a three-game losing streak Friday night, defeating the Philadelphia Phillies 12-4. Milwaukee’s 12 runs on Friday night quadruples the combined run total of the three-game losing streak. Ryan Braun got things going early for the Brewers, hitting a three-run home run in the first inning. Orlando Arcia extended the lead in the top of the second with an RBI-single and later scored on a Lorenzo Cain double, giving Milwaukee a 5-0 lead. Cain drove in Arcia again in the 4th to spark a 6 run inning which included another Ryan Braun home run, which gave the Brewers an 11-0 lead. The Phillies would tack on a few runs in the 4th and 7th to bring the game to 11-4. Christian Yelich capped off the scoring following a mammoth home run to center in the top of the 8th inning, giving Milwaukee the 12-4 lead that would go on to be the final score. Jhoulys Chacin earned the win, pitching 6.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits, and striking out 7. Milwaukee sends Brent Suter to the mound Saturday afternoon to face off against Jake Arrieta in game two of the three-game set in Philadelphia. First pitch is scheduled for 12:05 pm.
