Milwaukee has the best record in the National League at (35-20) and has two more games left in the series. Ryan Braun went 3×3 and reached base all four times he came to the plate. Christian Yelich hit his sixth home run in the third inning. Jonathan Villar blasted his third home run in the seventh inning to give Milwaukee enough breathing room to take the Cardinals down in the series opener.
