By Nick Freimuth Sunset Park in Sturgeon Bay was bustling Monday night with Cal Ripken Baseball. Opening night of the season saw Nicolet Bank come from behind to beat DC Co-op 5-4 in the closest game of the evening. It was a two-run double in the sixth inning from Cash Nellis that capped the comeback for Nicolet Bank. Danny Lodl was the winning pitcher and also hit a home run in the win. Reece Lauder had two hits in the game including a home run.
The Kiwanis had the hot bats of the opener tallying 19 runs to the Lions three. Matthew Malvitz, Cole Rass and Noah Moll all combined for the win on the mound. Brody Kollath and Will Jandrin each had three hits. Jake Zettle had two hits including a grand slam. Cole Rass and Matthew Malvitz also had two hits in the win.
Brady Kita and Isaac Marsh each had multi-hit games to help lift the Red Room over Bayship 6-2. Calvin Richard and Isaac Marsh combined for the win on the mound. Caden LeMeiux and Tyler Plzak had two hits for the Ships. Blake Guillette and Tyler Grooters each knocked in a run in the loss.
