When the Packerland Conference Track Championships get underway this afternoon in Algoma, some of the state’s best will not be in the lanes but located in the pits of the sport’s field events. According to Athletic.net and WisconsinTrackOnline.com, the Packerland Conference boasts 13 athletes among the state’s best, with 11 of those throwing and jumping their way potentially to the podium. On the girls’ side, Algoma has seven athletes among the ranked athletes with Katelyn Williams (shot put, discus) and Elizabeth McClure (high jump, pole vault) leading the way. On the boys’ side, Algoma has three athletes (Max Schoening, shot put; Sam Utesch, pole vault; Ryan Feuerstein, triple jump) leading the way. On the track, however, it is Gibraltar with some of the top performers. Gibraltar’s 400 relay time of 53.82 seconds has them in the top 20 while Evan Henry has a top ten 3200 meter run time with a 1600 meter showing sitting just outside the ranking. The action gets underway at 3 p.m.
