By John Berns Sturgeon Bay kept pace in the Packerland Conference baseball race with a 4-2 victory over Oconto at Sturgeon Bay. Sturgeon Bay jumped on top with two runs in the second inning, highlighted be a Tanner DeGrave single and a 2-out RBI double from Max Bordeau. The Clippers added an unearned run in the 4th, and took a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the 6th on a solo Bordeau blast. Oconto got on the board with a 2-run HR from Hayden Honish in the 7th, and had runners on 2nd and 3rd when the game ended. Jared Van Bramer pitched into the 7th inning for the Clippers, with Jake Schneider getting the save. With the tying runs on base, Schneider retired the final three batters he faced, two by strikeout.
Sturgeon Bay is scheduled to host Sevastopol for a doubleheader on Thursday, with the first game scheduled to start at 4:30. Game one will count in the Packerland Conference standings, with game two being a non-conference tilt.
