Local track and field teams were in action Friday across Northeastern Wisconsin. On the girls’ side, Gibraltar placed 6th at the Hilbert Invitational with several high placing individuals. Nina Sitte took first in the 100m hurdles , as well as taking second in the 4x100m relay with teammates Bria Caldecott, Aubrey Viste and Abbigael Sitte. Caldecott also took first in the high jump with a 4’-11” jump. Abbey Fitzgerald also finished first in the long jump for the Vikings. For the boys, Evan Henry was Gibraltar’s only first place finisher, winning the 3,200m race.
At the Two Rivers Invitational, Luxemburg-Casco took home the team title, with Kewaunee finishing fourth and Sturgeon Bay in sixth. First place finishers include Luxemburg Casco’sKate Hilbert in the 400m, Molly Wotruba in the 100m hurdles and 300m hurdles, Kewaunee’s 4×400 relay team, Sylvia Wessel on the shotput, and the lone first place finisher for Sturgeon Bay was Brenna Zuehlke in the discus. For the boys, the relay team from Sturgeon Bay of Brady Wodack, Luke Brinkman, Hayden Shefchik, and Nathaniel Greenlaw won the 4×100 and 4×200 relay races. Kewaunee’s Alex Hewitt won the triple jump, and the Luxemburg-Casco 4×400 relay team was victorious.
