The Kewaunee boys track team rode three individual titles to win the Peshtigo Invitational Thursday night. Newcomer Alex Hewett won the triple jump with a distance of 38 feet, 9.25 inches and Spencer Kirsteatter continued his long-distance domination in the outdoor track season by sweeping the 1600 and 3200 meter runs. The Storm scored 113 points, beating nine other teams.
In Seymour, the Algoma boys scored 99.5 points to take fourth and Sevastopol registered 32 points in the small schools division at the Seymour Invitational. The Pioneers’ Keagan Sargent won the long jump while the Wolves’ Max Schoening swept the throws competitions.
On the girls’ side, Kewaunee took 3rd in the Peshtigo Invitational thanks in part to the legs of Kaaryn Smidel. The runner-up in the 300-meter hurdles, Smidel was also part of the 4 x 400 meter relay time that won gold.
In Seymour, Algoma followed up last weekend’s championship with a 122.5 point performance and a runner-up finish behind Kiel. The Wolves’ Katelyn Williams swept the throws competitions while Khloe Williams captured the long jump title and the 4 x 100-meter relay team won gold. Sevastopol scored 43 points to finish seventh in the eight-team meet.
