Packerland Conference teams were busy Saturday with five teams in action. Sturgeon Bay played host to non-conference foe Gladstone (MI) and split a doubleheader, losing the first game 2-0 and winning the second 12-2 in five innings. Ryan Jacobson led the way in the game one defeat with two hits and a double, with Mitch Jackson taking the loss. Game two was a different story as the Clippers bats started to heat up, with Anthony Moore and Jaeger Brusky each going 2-3 in the win. Jared Van Bramer earned the win for Sturgeon Bay.
NEW Lutheran swept Southern Door in a doubleheader on Saturday, winning 10-0 in game one and 12-11 in game two. Sam Meerstein led the way for the Blazers, dominating on the mound allowing only four hits. Meerstein also impressed with his bat going 2-2 with a three RBI. Southern Door got its bats going in game two, with Derik LeCaptain and Devin Schinkgten with two hits, and Adam Guschow crushing a three-run home run in the comeback attempt.
Sevastopol hosted Algoma for a single game and defended its home field with a dominating 22-5 win over the Wolves. Josh Pflieger and Zach Christianson led the Pioneers offense with four hits each, with Ethan Kroll, Robby Pollman and Brent Haberli each also tallying three hits each. Christianson also earned the win on the mound.
