Wisconsin Badgers men’s basketball coach Greg Gard will be staying for the foreseeable future, announcing a contract extension on Friday afternoon. Gard’s contract was extended an additional season, to the 2022-23 season, from the first contract he signed following the 2015-16 season when he became the head coach after taking over for Bo Ryan midway through the season. In his two-plus seasons as head coach, Wisconsin has reached the Sweet 16 twice but failed to make the tournament this past season for the first time since 1998. The Badgers look to rebound from a tough 2017-18 campaign marred by inexperience and injury to contend for the Big Ten title in 2018-19.
