Sturgeon Bay senior Luke Brinkman took third place at the High School Power Lifting Nationals last weekend. Lifting at 93 kg, Luke needed a perfect day to reach this placing and he did. Brinkman went 9×9 with personal records on every lift. Luke Squatted 468lbs, bench pressed 275lbs and deadlifted 562lbs. The Sturgeon Bay senior was the top placing lifter from Wisconsin in arguably the most competitive weight class.
Also competing in the 93kg class was Erik Escalara. Although he did not make the podium, he had a great day getting personal records on all three lifts. Escalara went 8×9 on the day. Erik is a Junior and returns next year. Luke was Sturgeon Bay’s only senior at nationals and will be running track and power lifting at UW Eau Claire next year.
