Wisconsin high school basketball came to an end on Saturday with the WIAA State Boys’ Basketball State Championships. Saturday started with the 3-point challenge which pits the top 3-point shooters in the state, with senior Ryan Steffes from New Holstein taking home the trophy. The games started with a record-setting performance in Division 5. Bangor trounced McDonell Central, scoring a Division 5 tournament record 91 points, for a 91-67 win. In Division 4, the Roncalli Jets flew by Marathon for a 53-37 win. Division 3 came down to the final seconds between Valders and Prescott. Valders hit a 3 with 10 seconds left to take a 2 point lead, but it was Prescott stealing the show, hitting the game-winning 3 pointer at the buzzer to win 63-62. Division 2 also came down to the final moments, as 2018 Wisconsin Mr. Basketball, Jordan McCabe, led Kaukauna over Milwaukee Washington 76-74. McCabe hit a go-ahead lay-up with 4 seconds left in the game. In the final game, the Division 1 gold ball went to Oshkosh North, easily defeating Brookfield East 61-44 with senior Tyrese Haliburton scoring 30 for the Spartans.
