Vivian Isola Gartzke, 98, Algoma, went to her eternal resting place, Friday March 9, 2018 at her home. She was born Dec. 31, 1919 in Rosholt, WI to Franklin and Vivian (Webb) Hunt. She grew up in Northern Wis. She often spoke of the beautiful lakes and landscapes as fond memories growing up.
Vivian enjoyed being with her family, telling stories about growing up, having family and friends stop in to talk, playing cards, board games, collecting stamps and making wood figures on her jigsaw and putting them outside as decorations. Vivian was a member of the Algoma United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star.
Vivian married Theodore Gartzke in Hortonville on Nov. 4, 1939. Vivian and Theodore were blessed with five children and one step daughter.
Vivian is survived by her children Ralph (Mallory) Gartzke, Algoma; Karen (Percy) Damrow, Hastings, MN; Susan (Dave) Karst, Algoma; and Ted (Cathy) Gartzke, Luxemburg; 14 grandchildren Cheryl (Gary) Jansen, David (Doreen) Deprey, Marsha (Mike) Nichols, Kristi (Chris) Kern, Todd Bultman, Jodi (Pete) Swoboda, Kelli (Mike) Kreiner, Scott (Michelle) Gartzke, Steve (Kim) Gartzke, Julie (John) Kornman, Heather (Chris) Reese, Jonathan (Heather) Gartzke, Jennifer (Mike) Zernzach and Christine (Tony) Flaig; 23 great grandchildren; two sisters Betty Opperman and Diane Ratzburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, two daughters Alice Deprey and Carol Bultman, three brothers Chauncey, Russell and David Hunt, one sister Rosemary Weiland, two brothers-in-law Bill Ratzburg and Floyd Opperman.
Family and friends may gather at the SCHINDERLE FUNERAL HOME, Algoma from 10:00 AM, Friday, April 6, 2018 until the time of the Eastern Star service at 11:30 AM followed by the Memorial Service with Rev Pat Knutson from the Algoma United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will take place at a later time in the Evergreen Cemetery.
