The WIAA high schools girls’ season came to an end on Saturday after State Championship Saturday at the Resch Center. In Division 5, Bangor outlasted a physical game against Blackhawk, taking home the gold ball with a 39-29 win. Aquinas cruised past Melrose-Mindoro with a 68-52 to complete the perfect season in the Division 4 championship. Amherst had their comeback attempt fall short, losing to Marshall 63-55 in Division 3. In the evening session, Beaver Dam overcame a slow start to repeat as Division 2 champions, beating New Berlin Eisenhower 51-41. Also repeating as state champions were Appleton North in Division 1, as the Lightning storm past Mukwonago 45-32, having led by as many as 20 points in the game.
