On Friday, Sturgeon Bay swimmer Max McHugh won two gold medals and set the US record in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 51.62 seconds. McHugh bested the previous record by over a full second, which was 52.65 seconds. Teammate Brock Aune took second in the event with a time of 58.67 seconds. McHugh won his other gold medal and set a state record in the 50-yard freestyle, with a time of 20.34, besting the previous record of 20.59 seconds. The Sturgeon Bay relay team of McHugh, Aune, Evan Smith, and Luke Bousley would finish second in the 200-yard freestyle relay, and third in the 200-yard medley relay. With just four swimmers, Sturgeon Bay finished 6th of 35 teams in team points.
