Anglers are making up for lost time last year due to great ice conditions. Guide JJ Malvitz says last season came up just short of the usual guaranteed five weeks of ice fishing every year. Malvitz credits cold November temperatures and winds for contributing to an earlier start to the season and an expected ice depth of 30 inches in some spots after this weekend’s freeze.
Malvitz says he hopes to be able to take customers safely out onto the ice for at least 10 weeks this season.
