The Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol/Southern Door co-op varsity swim team finished fifth out of 20 teams Saturday at the Plymouth Invitational.
The team consists of just seven swimmers including McHugh, Brock Aune, Evan Smith, Luke Bousley, Will Albertson, Kekoa Bicoy, and Ian Bartz. Finishing fifth place out of 20 teams at an invitational is incredible with their lack of numbers.
Bousley, McHugh, Aune, and Smith finished second in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:41.52, and that was followed by Evan Smith finishing 10th in the 200 Freestyle with a best time of 1:57.94.
Brock Aune was up next in the 200 IM and finished 8th in 2:06.19. In the 50 Free Max McHugh won the event in a time of 20.86, joining him in that event was Bousley with a time of 24.65 for 18th place and Ian Bartz finishing in 55th.
The next event was the 100 Butterfly and Bousley finished in 12th place while Aune took home third place in the 100 Free and Albertson 36th.
The 200 Freestyle Relay saw the team finish in first place with a time of 1:31.07. Evan Smith then brought home 14th in the 100 Backstroke.
Max McHugh then set a new pool record in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 53.71. Next up for the team is the Conference Meet at Two Rivers on Saturday.
