The Gibraltar Vikings (8-5, 6-4) almost pulled off an unbelievable comeback against the Algoma Wolves (6-6, 6-3) Friday night at Gibraltar High School. The Wolves would prevail 48-46 thanks to key free throwing shooting from senior guard Mikayla Haack who finished with 11 points.
Arguably the biggest story of the night was both leading scorers for both squads fouled out with under five minutes remaining. Without Makayla Guilette and Payton Pluff on the floor, the final minutes got wild.
Haack drained key baskets late to secure the victory late for Algoma despite best efforts from the Vikings offense. Unfortunately, bad passing and missed shots late dealt Gibraltar their fifth loss of the season.
Gibraltar returns to action on Saturday against Coleman while Algoma hosts Kewaunee on Tuesday.
