The Sevastopol Pioneers made it two in a row in the WIAA 8-Man Football Jamboree with a 36-20 victory over the Wausaukee Rangers.
Early mistakes put the Pioneers in a 12-0 hole but responded on the following drive with a two-yard touchdown run by Ethan Kroll. Quarterback Jacob Welsing would lead the Pioneers to a 14-12 lead on a 10-yard touchdown pass to Max Krohn and a 2 point conversion.
The Pioneers would make the necessary adjustments after halftime to score a pair of touchdowns to put the game out of reach via a 53 yard run by Kroll and 58-yard pass from Welsing to Krohn. The Rangers would get the game to 28-20 following quarterback Matthew Delfosse’s third total touchdown on the day with a passing play to Christian Shigouri, but Welsing’s third touchdown pass of the day ended the comeback bid.
The Pioneers end the season 9-1 and undefeated against conference opponents after defeating the Rangers for the second time.
