On October 12, 2017, Robert E Masline, age 77, of Sister Bay WI passed away with his wife Lorraine at his side at Scandia Village in Sister Bay WI. He was born on August 2, 1940 to Edward Link Masline and Doris Haberbush Masline in Rochester, NY.
After high school, Robert served in the US Navy and after his military duty, attended Monroe Community College. He also worked in his father’s electronics business, Masline Electronics. One day while he was working, a salesman came in all excited about leaving to attend flight school to become a pilot. This enthusiasm led Robert to seek out how to get started in flight school himself out in Santa Barbara. Once finished with flight school, he married and had some smaller flying jobs. He later moved to Pittsburgh, PA and worked as a corporate pilot for Rockwell, and staying with them for 34 years. The job took him all over the world, and moved him to California, where he met his second wife Lorraine. Robert had two daughters from his previous marriage, and Lorraine also had two daughters from her previous marriage.
They married in 1985 and lived in Westchester, CA. When they lived in California, they did many mountain climbing trips into the Sierras and even hiked into the Grand Canyon for a week. There were also trips to northern California as well as Europe and even Russia.
Robert took a job relocation to Milwaukee in 1999, and several years after that, Door County soon became the place to go for mini-getaways. Robert retired in 2005 and kept himself busy with woodworking, DIY home projects, clock and furniture making and keeping the large lawn well-manicured. He also would enjoy movies while Lorraine worked. Dinner time was the favorite time of day where they would relax and have long conversations about everything under the sun.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Masline.
Robert is survived by his wife Lorraine, daughters Kristin Masline of Roanoke, VA and Susan Dykes (Ted), of Casper, WY, and by stepdaughters Sarah Ketron (Mitch) of Altha, FL and Nicole Crenshaw (Jason), of Athens, GA along with three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate his life at a later time.
