A retired U.S. Navy captain says a fresh set of eyes on a regular basis at Veterans Administration (VA) medical facilities might be just what the doctor ordered to change things around for the ailing system. The VA has been a lightning rod for controversy over the last few years with overmedication at some facilities and long waits at others. Dr. Joe Binard says it would take a long time to share all of his ideas with President-elect Donald Trump on how to improve the VA, but a rotation of directors through different facilities might be a good first step.
Binard says the VA does exceed the quality of care in several areas such as rehabilitation and spinal cord care, but also believes it should strengthen the power of programming directors
