The success of Algoma School District’s Pathfinder Academy has officials thinking about its future. Housed in a former bank in the city’s downtown, the Pathfinder Academy has given children that may have struggled in a traditional classroom new hope through different experiences and settings. Superintendent Nick Cochart says school officials have discussed expanding the program, but not at the expense at the kids already thriving in it.
Students enrolled in the Pathfinder Academy typically want to pursue online coursework, require more one-on-one attention, and want to collaborate with other students and community members.
