County clerks across the state will conduct recounts of the over 2.9 million votes cast for United States President beginning today. Green Party candidate Jill Stein paid the $3.5 million fee to pay for the recount, despite calling it an exorbitant amount and losing her bid to require counties to hand count the ballots. Kewaunee County Clerk Jamie Annoye says it will cost them $12,400 to complete the recount. With at least two staff members dedicated to the recount over the next few days, Annoye is happy to have the support needed to keep things running smoothly in the County Clerk’s office.
County clerks have until December 13 to finalize tallies. Recounts are also underway in Michigan and Pennsylvania.
