The traffic lights on Egg Harbor Road in Sturgeon Bay near Walmart have been reactivated. The traffic signals were disconnected about a year ago. Walmart, who contracted to install the lights, had contractors put them back into full operation this past Tuesday. Sturgeon Bay Parking and Traffic Committee member Ron Vandertie said back in June that he was not sure the traffic lights were still necessary.
Sensors have been installed to keep traffic moving on Egg Harbor Road unless a vehicle is attempting to leave the Walmart parking area. The city is advising drivers to be aware new driving patterns may take some time to develop since the traffic lights are fully operational again.
