Packers Sign Chris Banjo, Omarius Hines

The Green Bay Packers have signed safety Chris Banjo and wide receiver Omarius Hines and waived safety Ryan McMahon. The transactions were announced Monday by Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations.

Banjo, a 5-foot-10, 207-pound rookie out of Southern Methodist University, signed with Jacksonville as a free agent in April 2013 before being waived on July 25. He earned honorable mention All-Conference USA recognition at SMU as a senior in 2011 after recording 82 tackles (50 solo), two passes defensed and two fumble recoveries. As a junior in 2010, Banjo posted 92 tackles (60 solo), including 6½ tackles for loss, two interceptions and eight passes defensed on his way to being named second-team All-Conference USA. He will wear No. 32 for the Packers.

Hines (first name is pronounced oh-MAR-ee-us), a 6-foot, 215-pound rookie out of the University of Florida, signed with Baltimore as a non-drafted free agent in May 2013 before being waived by the club on July 22. He appeared in 51 games with nine starts during his career at Florida and caught 64 passes for 801 yards (12.5 avg.) and four TDs. Hines also rushed for 323 yards and four TDs on 33 carries (9.8 avg.) during his career, the third-most rushing yards by a WR in school history. He will wear No. 5 for the Packers.
