A memorable trip to Minneapolis, Minnesota ended with a win for the Sturgeon Bay American Legion Baseball team yesterday. The game was significant because it was the last ever baseball game to be played in The Metrodome. Sturgeon Bay Legion Manager George Husby said the game drew quite a bit of media coverage in the Twin Cities.
The Bays dropped game one to Viroqua 6-2, but surged back with an 11-5 win in game two of the doubleheader.
Ryan Nelson was the winning pitcher in the second game. He allowed two runs on two hits in 6 innings. Riley Schartner, Joey Fuerst, David Van Dreese and Riley Cordier each had two hits in the win.
Jason Lindeman had three hits and Michael Larsen and Lucas Stephenson had four hits apiece to lead the Bays on the day.
