Brewers Crush Cubs In Game 1

The Brewers exploded for five runs in the fifth inning to sink the Cubs 9-3 at Miller Park Tuesday night. The National League Central rivalry featured a two home run effort by Rickie Weeks. The Brewers finished with 11 hits to help deliver the victory to starting pitcher Kyle Lohse. He pitched seven innings of three-run baseball.

The Brewers ran their record against the Cubs to (19-2) in their last 21 games at Miller Park, including nine wins in a row. Milwaukee has now won five of six meetings against Chicago this season.

Rickie Weeks belted a two-run homer in the sixth, and added a solo shot to center field in the eighth inning. They were the seventh and eighth home runs of the season, and gave him five this month. Weeks is hitting .429 in June with five homers and nine RBIs.
