It’s not very often that Packers fans get really excited for a pre-season game, but for Sturgeon Bay High School graduate Jake Bscherer Friday, August 23rd will be a huge date. After inking a contract yesterday with the Seattle Seahawks, Bscherer will have a chance to play against the Packers at Lambeau Field for the third pre-season game of the 2013 season.
The Bscherer Family has already been told that Sturgeon Bay Football fans will be loud and proud for the “homecoming game” for Jake. After playing with the Wisconsin Badgers for three seasons, Bscherer finished his collegiate football career at Division 2 Minnesota Duluth last fall.
The former Gatorade State Player of the Year had two different NFL tryouts. He was invited to rookie camp with the Seattle Seahawks and the Minnesota Vikings. Seattle was the first team to call and offer him a tryout and was the first team to call and offer up a contract.
The NFL dream is now reality for Jake Bscherer. His NFL jersey will likely soon be the latest to be hanging from the “Wall of Fame” inside Sturgeon Bay High School. He will join fellow alums to play in the NFL Casey Rabach, Nick Greisen and Chris Greisen.
