Pitchers Rising Up In High School Softball

Algoma pitcher Jordan Demmin pitched seven innings of shutout softball to boost the Wolves to a 6-0 win over Kewaunee last night. The rival teams split during the girls basketball season and the Storm are determined to earn a split in softball the next time these two teams meet. Demmin struck out seven and Taylor Schmidt finished with three hits and two runs scored for the Wolves.

Sturgeon Bay was one run better than Gibraltar 7-6 Tuesday. Freshman Hailey Benesh staved off a late Vikings rally to earn the win in the circle. Sami VanDreese had three hits and Paige Kramer added two hits for the Clippers.

Luxemburg-Casco split a doubleheader with Oconto Falls 2-0 and 0-2. Sara Simonar won game one for L-C and lost game two to McKenna Larsen. Both pitchers threw both games. The game two loss was the first defeat of the season by Luxemburg-Casco.
