Mother Nature one, spring turkey hunters zero. That was the story told by many decked out in camouflage during week one of the turkey season. Snow, wind and cold kept many hunters out of the woods and turkey blinds during the seven day season.
Not everyone ended week one without a tom to show for their hunt. A number of success stories have been documented here on DoorCountyDailyNews.com including today’s featured picture. Door County’s Justin Kaczmarek watched his tom for three hours before it finally came within range yesterday afternoon. Beth Jeurink was calling for Kaczmarek and the two were thrilled with the result after a long week of hunting.
Week two turkey hunters were able to start calling in their birds at sun up this morning.
