Yes, an outdoor afterschool activity actually took place in Door County yesterday. The Southern Door Eagles softball team won their home opener 11-1 against the Sevastopol Pioneers in the Town of Gardner.
The game lasted just six innings due to the 10-run rule after the Eagles offense surged. LaRae Bagnall singled in two runs and Courtney VanHout added a two run triple in the first inning. Other offensive leaders included Kelsey Pavlik’s two hits, while Rachel Andres and Cheyenne McFarlin each tallied a hit and an RBI.
Andres was also credited with the win inside the pitcher’s circle. She allowed one run on two hits.
Sevastopol, now led by first year head coach Arnie Neubauer, saw Cassie Borkovetz and Adeline Nelson each record singles while Maddie LeClair notched the lone RBI for the visitors.
