Banged Up Brewers Drop First Series Of Season

The Milwaukee Brewers lost 7-8 in extra innings to the Arizona Diamondbacks at Miller Park this afternoon. Even though Milwaukee is down two top hitters the Crew fought hard today in the final game of the series.

The Brewers rallied in the ninth inning with two runs and tied the score at six.

At the top of the eleventh inning Arizona’s Eric Hinske hit a homer with Cliff Pennington on base giving the Diamondbacks a two-run advantage. The Brewers answered with one run in the bottom of the inning, Jonathon Lucroy singled to right field sending Norichika Aoki home, but couldn’t score again.

Shortstop Jean Segura dropped to the dirt in the third inning after Gerardo Parra slid into him coming into second base. He played with a bruised thigh until the top of the fifth when the Brewers switched up their infield. Segura entered the game as one of Milwaukee’s hottest hitters.

Former Green Bay Bullfrog Josh Prince replaced the injured Aramis Ramirez and had one hit in two at bats. Ryan Braun was still out with a stiff neck.
