UPDATE: Door County YMCA Doorfins Program Swimming At Nationals



The 2013 YMCA Short Course National Championship is going on right now at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina. An impressive contingency of Door County youth qualified for the national event including 10 local swimmers.

This morning Arica Smith, Abby Bubnik, Savanna Townsend and Mattie Rastall swam the 200 girls relay in a time of 1:36.44 and are seeded 20th for the finals.

Also this morning, Connor McHugh swam the 100 breast stroke in 55.09 seconds. That time has Connor seeded second for the finals.

Max McHugh swam his best time at 1:00.15 to finish 71st in the 100 breast stroke. The swim moved Max up from the 110th seed all the way up to 71st.

Savanna Townsend also swam the 100 breast stroke and finished 59th in the finals with a time of 1:06.82.

On Thursday Connor McHugh finished second in the 200 breast with a personal best time if 1:59.00. Savannah Townsend finished 16th in the 50 free with a near best time.
