
The top senior point guard in the state of Wisconsin, according to Wissports.net, is Algoma’s Taylor Schmidt. The announcement of the award was released hours before Algoma crushed Cuba City 62-39 in the WIAA Division 4 state semi-final.
The two-time Packerland Conference Player of the Year put up a stellar line against the Cubans last night. Her 13 points, six rebounds and eight assists had her teetering on a triple double. Schmidt said after the state semi-final, that the win was most important and gave her teammates credit for the honor of “the top senior point guard in the state of Wisconsin.”

The honors continue to pile up and an appearance on the all-state tournament team is likely not far off. Schmidt will look to lead the Wolves to their first state title in 27 years tomorrow against Colfax.
