The Kewaunee girls basketball team knew they could beat their WIAA Division 3 sectional semi-final opponent last night at West De Pere. In fact, they doubled up Wrightstown 52-26 earlier in the year. Thursday night was a completely different story.
The Tigers started out the game with a 10-1 run and led all four quarters. The Storm trailed by ten at the half, seven points after three quarters and tied the game with 20 seconds left to play. The amazing comeback ended with an extra period.
In overtime, Kewaunee took its first lead of the game 38-36 with 30 seconds left on the game clock. Through the first 35 minutes and 30 seconds, Wrightstown held the lead but Kewaunee’s never say quit attitude kept them alive.

The Storm played excellent defense to lock down their sectional semi-final win and escaped with a 39-36 victory in thrilling fashion. After the final horn sounded, officials added 2.7 seconds back on the clock giving Wrightstown one more chance to tie the game in OT. The Storm locked down the Tigers one last time and now face Appleton Xavier Saturday at 7:00 PM at Ashwaubenon. Xavier beat FVL 29-28 Thursday.
Alex Richard led the Storm with 13 points while Jill Kleiman added 10 in the win.
